Hardware payment devices that enable secure PIN entry. PED’s usually contain a number of standard routines for payment processing. Security requirements often demand that the use of clear-text entry is only allowed in combination with a secure display. Any device used by your business must be PCI PED approved. Pin-Entry Device Manufacturers are used on POS terminals and unattended POS terminals. The Ped security requirements apply to all devices that accept Pin entry. The Ped security requirements look at all aspects of Ped development, including physical and its logical characteristics, as well as how the Ped is produced, controlled, transported, stored and used throughout its life cycle.
